What to pack?
For the Thursday evening program, dress code is formal. You can't go wrong with a suit, black tie or cocktail dress. We believe the weather will be nice and the official program will be followed by a garden party, so please choose comfortable shoes.
For visiting our offices, the dress code is smart casual. For optional activities, wear whatever you are comfortable in. In September, Prague tends to have relatively sunny weather with warm days around 20°C. However, evenings and mornings can be colder, so we recommend bringing a waterproof jacket and a sweater.
Where should you stay?
We'll leave the choice up to you. There are hundreds of options in Prague ranging from small guesthouses to Airbnb rentals to super-luxury hotels, including some of the most renowned in the world. We generally recommend locations in Prague 1, 2, 5, 6, and 8, as these areas have good transportation access and are usually just a few steps from landmarks. It's also convenient if it's close to a metro station, as it is easy to get to other places in Prague.
How to get there?
The Czech Republic is located in the heart of Europe. Our closest neighbors are Germany, Austria, Poland, and Slovakia. Therefore, transportation is easy by plane (Vaclav Havel Airport Prague is about 30 minutes from the city center), by car there are highways from all neighboring countries (you have to buy Electronic Vignette), or by train (the main railway station is literally in the centre of Prague). In Prague it is best to use public transport, especially the metro. It is a cheap, comfortable, clean and safe way to get around the city. To get to or from the airport, Uber Airport or Bolt are the best options, as it will take you directly to your hotel or the airport terminal. If you are travelling by car, the only thing to watch out for is parking zones for residents in the wider area of Prague (usually marked in blue - you can pay via app).
What to definitely experience?
Make sure you take a walk through the centre of Prague and take a photo of Prague Castle, the largest castle complex in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, from the Charles Bridge or the Smetana Embankment. A stop at Old Town Square is also essential. If you enjoy museums, you'll be spoilt for choice in Prague, with everything from the National Museum at the top of Wenceslas Square to the Technical Museum on Letná. There is also plenty of choice when it comes to theatres and opera houses. If you're feeling romantic, head to Petřín Hill for a view of the whole city - you can hike or take the cable car up.
You must try Czech beer. Pilsner Urquell was the first of its kind and gave its name to all Pils-type lagers in the world. For something extra special, try a strong dark beer at U Fleku, where they have been brewing and serving their own beer since 1499. The best accompaniment to beer is a classic Czech dish such as "svíčková" or "koprová omáčka" (creamy sauces with dumplings) or "guláš" (spicy stew meat mixture). You will probably like the most popular Czech dish "smažák" (fried cheese served with fench fries or boiled potatoes and tartar sauce).

Which currency should you pay with?
The official currency is the Czech koruna (CZK), but it is usually possible to pay in euros (EUR). However, be aware of the exchange rate (see official rates). If you want to exchange money, ask your hotel for a recommendation or visit an established exchange office such as Exchange s.r.o. You can simply withdraw at an official bank cash machine, avoid non-branded ATM. In most cases, you can pay conveniently by credit/debit card or contactless payment.
How to speak in Czech?
The official language is Czech. You can try to learn it, but you will probably need a few years, a lot of patience and a lot of luck! Fortunately, in Prague and larger cities you can usually speak English and German (certainly not a problem in restaurants, hotels and tourist places).
We look forward to seeing you soon in Prague!
