Kristián Samler Making MyQ grow smarter: One step at a time

KRISTIÁN SAMLER is the kind of leader who prefers action over airtime. Thoughtful, and allergic to unnecessary buzzwords, he focuses on what truly moves things forward, and makes sure teams have the space and clarity to do their best work.

People need a strong coffee to kick off the day, except Kristián. He’s usually the first one in the office, already mapping out what’s ahead while the rest of us are still waking up. Calm, focused, and dressed in his signature laid-back but sharp style, Kristián brings both clarity and momentum to the MyQ journey. His path with MyQ actually started years ago, when he helped shape the company’s international growth as Chief Sales Officer.

After gaining more leadership experience in other global SMBs, he returned (this time as Chief Operating Officer) with a broader mission: to keep MyQ growing in the right direction, by aligning strategy with everyday reality. Kristián doesn’t just focus on internal processes, he looks at the bigger picture. Where are we headed? What’s blocking us? What should we stop doing? He plays a key role in aligning strategy, keeping teams focused, and removing the friction that can slow a company down.

What made you say “yes” to returning to MyQ? And how did it feel to return: like coming home, or like a well-timed sequel?

I’d say the challenge — the challenge to grow something that’s already successful. Actually, it felt like a bit of both. There were plenty of familiar faces, but also exciting new projects and fresh colleagues ready to help rock the world.

Be honest, how do you survive morning meetings without coffee, and what’s your routine before the rest of the office wakes up?

Cold shower, quality black tea, and a traffic-free 20-minute drive; that’s the magic combo. Throw in an energizing Spotify playlist and I’m pretty much ready for anything.

If your leadership style had a soundtrack, what genre would it be?

As much as I’d love to say something like “Rock’n’Roll, baby,” the truth is probably closer to indie rock. Less head-banging, more head-planning.

What’s one small habit that helps you stay on top of day-to-day complexity?

I prioritize almost every morning. I try to stay focused on what really matters, and do my best to block out distractions. (Not always successfully, I’ll admit.)

Any advice you’d give to the next Kristián-in-the-making joining MyQ?

I hate to sound like a motivational poster in a gym locker room… but persistence and hard work really do pay off.
