Deprecation of Basic Authentication for Microsoft Exchange Online

As part of Microsoft's strategy to improve the security of its software and services, it was announced in September 2021 that Microsoft will disable basic authentication for Outlook, EWS, RPS, POP, IMAP, and EAS protocols in Exchange Online starting October 1, 2022.

For end-users, this means you can expect service interruptions if your applications have not switched from basic authentication to modern authentication. Read the announcement by Microsoft here.

The silver lining in all this is that our MyQ X is ready and prepared for this transition. Starting with MyQ X version 8.2, we have introduced modern authentication (OAuth 2.0 token-based authorization) for Exchange Online and several other services. This means that if you are an existing MyQ X customer with version 8.2 or newer, you should not be affected by these changes and can continue to enjoy the benefits of MyQ X.

We strongly recommend that customers using older versions of MyQ X, upgrade to the latest version of MyQ X version 8.2 or MyQ X version 10.0 before October 1, 2022, to ensure that IMAP and POP3 functionality via MS Exchange Online continue to work.

This is yet another reason to upgrade to MyQ X version 8.2 or 10.0. What other benefits do these version have? Read more about MyQ X version 8.2 here and MyQ X version 10.0 here.
