MyQ X 10.3 is now available: New capabilities for the next generation of document workflows

This means organizations can continue running MyQ X 10.2 where long-term stability is the priority, while customers and partners who want access to new capabilities can move to 10.3.

The timing is important. The print and document management environment is changing. Microsoft is moving Windows printing toward IPP and Windows Protected Print, while organizations are asking print providers to support more of the document workflow, from scanning and processing to archiving and controlled access. 

MyQ X 10.3 responds to these changes with four key capabilities:

1. Enhanced Windows Protected Print support, including IPP pass-through for advanced printing capabilities
2. MyQ Document Processor (MDP), for OCR, document conversion, separation, and blank page removal
3. Release Station, for controlled print release on devices without an embedded MyQ terminal 
4. Scan Review, to enable auditable scanning and document digitization for the digital archiving of sensitive information

Here is what each capability brings to MyQ X 10.3

Windows Protected Print

Supporting Microsoft’s new printing model

Microsoft is moving away from traditional printer driver architectures toward a standards-based model built around Internet Printing Protocol (IPP), Windows Protected Print Mode, and Print Support Apps. 

For organizations managing Windows print environments, this means the way printers communicate with Windows is changing. MyQ X 10.3 expands MyQ’s support for this direction with enhanced Windows Protected Print capabilities and IPP pass-through.

MyQ already supports Windows Protected Print using the built-in IPPS driver. This removes the need for OEM drivers; the current WPP version supports basic printing, and more finishing options are planned for upcoming versions.

Bringing finishing capabilities into the new model

MyQ X 10.3 introduces the next phase through IPP pass-through.

Microsoft has been moving Windows toward modern, standards-based printing, with new printer installations defaulting to the Windows Ready Print model as of July 2026. MyQ is fully prepared for this transition.

MyQ can detect device capabilities through IPP and make supported options available to users. This includes finishing capabilities such as: 

• Stapling 

• Hole punching

This allows organizations to use the newer Windows printing model while retaining access to relevant printer capabilities through MyQ. The development also provides a foundation for future integration with OEM support apps and, eventually, a universal MyQ app covering different printer brands.

The change is part of a broader industry shift rather than a MyQ-specific initiative. Microsoft has been moving Windows toward modern, standards-based printing, and new supported printer installations began defaulting to the Windows Ready Print model in July 2026.

MyQ Document Processor

Process scanned documents without additional software

Scanning often creates another task: turning the scanned file into a usable document. A scanned document may need Optical Character Recognition (OCR), conversion to an editable Office format, separation into individual files, or removal of blank pages before it can be used or archived. MyQ Document Processor (MDP) brings these processing capabilities directly into MyQ X.

MDP is configured through a new fourth tab in the scan destination settings. Administrators can configure OCR and format conversion, file separation, and blank page handling for each destination. 

OCR languages can be selected for each destination using the supported Tesseract OCR language list, including Arabic.

Automatic document separation

MDP can also split one scan job into multiple output files.

Administrators can separate documents by: 

• Page count: Define how many pages belong to each output file. 

• Barcode: Use supported barcodes, including Code 128 and QR codes, as document boundaries.

Barcode separation can use a regular expression filter so that only barcodes matching a defined pattern trigger the split. This is useful when separator sheets and other barcodes appear in the same batch.

Administrators can also choose whether a separator page becomes the first page of the following document or is removed completely. Multiple segments with the same logical barcode key can be combined into one output file, and barcode detection resolution can be adjusted when higher resolution is required.

Remove blank pages automatically

MDP can detect and remove blank pages before the processed document is delivered. Detection profiles include options for standard paper as well as paper with staple or punch holes and Eco Paper.

Together, these functions allow organizations to move from a raw scan to a processed document within the MyQ X workflow, without relying on separate document conversion software. 

Release Station

Controlled print release without an embedded terminal

Organizations may have wide-format plotters, older print-only devices, specialist printers, or devices installed in locations where users cannot access the printer’s own control panel.

Release Station brings these devices into a controlled MyQ print release workflow without requiring an embedded MyQ terminal.

MyQ Release Station is browser-based, runs on a dedicated computer or touchscreen. It is managed from the MyQ X administration interface under Printers and Terminals.

A user authenticates at the Release Station, sees their waiting print jobs, selects the printer, and releases the job.

The print job must already have been submitted before the user reaches the Release Station.

One station, one printer or multiple printers 

A Release Station can be configured for a single printer or multiple printers.

For a single device, a dedicated screen can be placed next to the printer. This provides controlled release for devices such as wide-format plotters or specialist printers.

For environments with multiple devices, one Release Station can provide the interface for several printers. The user selects which configured printer should produce the job.

This can be useful in print rooms where multiple devices are located together, or in environments where the printers themselves are not accessible.

Release Station can also address physical access restrictions. For example, where printers are installed inside locked cabinets, a touchscreen outside the cabinet can provide the print release interface while users remain outside the restricted area.

Scan Review

Controlled document capture for regulated scanning

Scanning a paper document is only one part of digitizing a record. In regulated environments, organizations may also need to demonstrate how the document was captured, reviewed, approved, signed, and stored. 

Scan Review adds a controlled scanning and archiving workflow directly to MyQ X. It can run on the same server as MyQ or on a separate machine and automatically registers with the MyQ environment, creating the required connector, REST API application, and Easy Scan destination.

From scan to archive. A document moves through a defined process:

1. Scan: A user scans a document using a dedicated Easy Scan action. The document is sent to Scan Review together with metadata such as the device, scan settings, and operator-assigned document ID.
2. Review: An authorized reviewer checks the document and its metadata, including resolution, color mode, duplex setting, device information, and scanner identity.
3. Four-eye control: Documents assigned to the High or Very High protection level require a second person to approve them. The person who performed the scan cannot approve the same document. 
4. Digital signing: After approval, the document is digitally signed using the organization’s certificate. An optional timestamp can also be used. If the digital signing process fails or encounters an error, approval will be blocked.
5. Archiving: The finished document is delivered as a digitally signed PDF to a hot folder or SFTP destination. The transfer note is embedded in the PDF and records information such as the document ID, protection level, page count, scan settings, and reviewer details.
6. Audit trail: Scans, reviews, approvals, and rejections are logged. Audit retention defaults to 10 years and can be configured according to the customer’s requirements.

Scan Review is particularly relevant to public sector organizations, financial services and insurance, healthcare, legal organizations, and other regulated environments where digital records may need to replace paper originals. 

The workflow also aligns with European requirements around electronic trust services under the eIDAS Regulation, including the use of electronic signatures and seals to support the authenticity and integrity of digital documents.

At the national level, it also aligns with requirements such as Germany’s TR-RESISCAN standard for replacement scanning.

 

A new innovation stream for MyQ X 

MyQ X 10.3 is not positioned as a replacement for MyQ X 10.2.

MyQ X 10.2 enters Long-Term Support (LTS) phase with continued support for security updates, vulnerability patches, and maintenance improvements. MyQ X 10.3 creates an additional path for organizations and partners that want access to new capabilities and technologies as the print and document management market develops.

The four capabilities in MyQ X 10.3 address different changes taking place across the market: 

1. Scan Review extends MyQ X into controlled, auditable scanning and document digital archiving.
2. MyQ Document Processor brings document processing directly into scanning workflows.
3. Release Station extends controlled print release to devices without embedded MyQ terminals.
4. Windows Protected Print support helps organizations adapt to Microsoft’s changing Windows printing architecture.
