Senior DevOps Engineer

About MyQ

MyQ creates print and document management solutions that put users’ digitalized workflows within easy reach. MyQ solutions - the flagship MyQ X and innovative MyQ Roger - are multi-vendor by design, mobile friendly, and ready to work regardless of an organization’s network or fleet size. MyQ is based in Prague, Czech Republic, and has a global network of distributors.

What Would Your Job Be Like?

As a member of the DevOps team, you will design, implement and maintain infrastructure and internal components for the MyQ neXt printing solution we are building and is not yet in production. MyQ neXt is a distributed system consisting of a clustered micro-service based server, apps running inside the printing devices, desktop clients, and a mobile app.

As a DevOps engineer, you are going to work on IaC for the public and private cloud infrastructure as well as observability, CI/CD pipelines, solution security and our in-house developed components that have no equivalents in the OSS world. You will own at least one piece of the stack.

There are only three people in the team at the moment, and the team is expected to grow. The R&D is ~50 people in total and internally we spit into interests' guilds. You will be able to shape the architecture alongside the CTO, the CPO, and the team.

What We Are Looking For

  • You have worked with complex cloud deployments in Azure or AWS and have a thorough understanding of compute options, identity and access, networking, managed Kubernetes, database and storage services of either provider and managed the setup with either Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Managed containerized applications through their full life cycle: from developer machine running Windows/MacOS dev container to production cluster deployment and know how to CI/CD for it, optimize for build speed and image size, how to manage container image repositories and caveats of doing so for dual-architecture builds.
  • Observability is something you instill in others and will actively push for logs, metrics and traces collection and processing and are open to showcasing it to others.
  • Not afraid to debug an issue that only manifests under load and can write a follow-up root cause analysis.
  • Can hold your ground in an architecture discussion and are open to new ideas and perspectives.
  • English B2 and above. Team is international and many people do not speak Czech.

Bonus points:

  • You know Kubernetes internals well enough to be able to confidently argue when and how to deploy it under different scenarios outside of major cloud providers.
  • You understand security concepts, both from code and user workflow perspectives.
  • Networking is “not just TCP/IP, HTTP, and DNS” to you.
  • Have a deeper understanding of proxies and web servers like Caddy, Nginx, HAProxy, Traefik.
  • Dealt with complex data storage and transfer scenarios, understand architecture and tradeoffs of relational vs. no-sql databases, caching and messaging systems.
  • Know how to manage and configure TeamCity and GitLab.

Tech Stack

  • Infrastructure revolves around Kubernetes in the cloud (primarily Azure) and Docker/Podman locally. Terraform, Helm, Argo CD.
  • Data goes into PostgreSQL (or MS SQL) and Redis, and we use NATS for messaging.
  • Grafana stack for observability.
  • Jira, Confluence, TeamCity, GitLab - the usual.
  • AI assistants are part of the toolchain. We use them to speed up work, not vibe code.

What You Can Expect From Us

  • Contract for an unlimited period (full-time employment or freelance).
  • Hybrid setup - 3 times a week in the office is perfect, some are every day, some visit once a sprint.
  • Unlimited Paid Vacation.
  • 5 sick days per year.
  • Multisport card.
  • Meal allowances.
  • Multicultural team.
  • Daily fruit and seasonal refreshments at the workplace.
  • Adjustable tables- if you’d rather stand than sit, no problem!
  • High-end laptop and two monitors on your desk.
  • Parking space – in Harfa mall, cyclists can park in office building
  • Paid workshops, courses, time to learn - anything you need for growth.
  • English and Czech language courses.

The Process

We respond within two weeks, regardless of the outcome.

  • (Remote) Introductory call with HR (30 min). Call about you, motivation and culture fit.
  • (On-site or remote) Technical round with a team leader and a member of the team (~ 1 hour). No nonsense, no LeetCode - a discussion about your past and current projects, and technology dive into things we work with daily. Hard questions go both ways and we’re happy to answer yours.
  • (On-site, optional) Chat with engineering leadership. Each situation is unique after all - we'll make time for things that need extra care.
  • Offer if all goes well.
